Attorney R. Edward (“Ward”) Kuhn was admitted to the Michigan Bar in 1974. In the decades since, he has represented clients regarding a variety of legal issues ranging from real estate and condominium law to estate planning and probate to business and corporate matters.
Ward’s extensive background in real estate includes the preparation of deeds, land contracts, purchase agreements, options, leases, and related documents. He also advises clients on such matters as tax uncapping, land division, homestead exemptions, and zoning.
He has worked with numerous developers of condominium projects to prepare Master Deeds, condominium bylaws, and associated documents. Ward has also represented condominium unit owners and associations in enforcing their rights relative to developers.
Whether representing a company in the creation or sale of a business entity, an individual in the creation of a customized estate plan, or a government entity in a municipal matter, Ward is highly regarded for his legal knowledge, analytical capability, and judgment. He views himself as a problem-solver, and clients and colleagues alike rely on his creative approach to thorny legal challenges.
In addition to being a pillar of the Traverse City legal community, Ward is also active in organizations that serve the community at large. He has served on the Traverse City Fire and Police Pension Board for many years and was one of the founders of the Habitat for Humanity affiliate in Traverse City. He has also been a volunteer at the Third Level Legal Clinic since its inception. In addition, he has participated in numerous musical productions as a choral member of the Grand Traverse Chorale and sings in the Grace Episcopal Church Choir.
